NEW POLICY:
SPONSORSHIPS AND ADVERTISING AT CLUBS.ORG

As a result of consultations with associations hosted by clubs.org, the online presentation of an organization as a sponsor of an association, and online advertising by an organization at Clubs.org, are subject to a new policy.

Objectives of this policy are to:

  • Provide a useful, customized and sustainable service to each  sponsoring or advertising organization and to the association concerned;

  • Develop the financial resources needed by both Clubs.org and each association to manage this service effectively.

The policy is applied through the following principles 1-7.   These principles may be revised as result of any additional feedback from the parties concerned.

Clubs.org provides a new and low-cost opportunity to achieve important objectives of each association and its sponsors and advertisers.

1.  Formats.  A full-time presentation over twelve months could be established in one of three formats:  (a) by a text hyperlink to an URL designated by the organization;  (b) by an image/text with a similar hyperlink(s);  or (c) by a text and/or image link(s) to a specially-designed Clubs.org page with customized information about the organization.  In general, the presentation of these formats will be low-key to maintain the user-friendliness of Clubs.org.

2.  Placement.  In support of a specific association, a text hyperlink or image link could be placed in three ways:  (a) on the home page of the association;  and/or (b) on any other page of the association (e.g. in connection with a special event);  as well as (c) on a drop-down menu of the home page of Clubs.org.  If not specific to any association, an image/text link(s) will be placed (d) high-up on the Clubs.org home page as per format 1(b) or 1(c).

3.  Source.  The image and any associated text will be provided to Clubs.org in an electronic format (gif, jpg, Word) by the organization or the association.  Clubs.org will automatically be granted copyright to use such images and text online.

4.  Fees.  With reference to the first principle above, the following annual fee levels currently apply (excluding VAT):  euro 240 for a hyperlink as per format 1(a);  euro 480 for an image/text link as per format 1(b);  and euro 960 for a customized page as per format 1(c).  In support of an association, each fee level covers a combination of placements 2(a), 2(b) and 2(c).   A link could later be revised free, e.g. in connection with a special event.   Any significant revision of the design or content of a customized page would be subject to a charge of 10-20% of the fee level.  Note: euro 1 = about US$ 0.90.

5.  Period.  An arrangement is normally agreed for one year at a time.  For a period of less than twelve months, the fee levels of format 1(a) and format 1(b) would normally be calculated on a pro rata basis plus a fixed charge of 50% of the annual fee.  The fee level of format 1(c) would remain unchanged for any period shorter than twelve months.  A brief no-link listing of previous sponsors of an association would be free (e.g. in connection with a special event).

6.  Sharing.  The association and Clubs.org would share the revenue of the above association-specific sponsorship/advertising fees 50:50, regardless of who raised the opportunity.   The total fee would be payable by the organization either to Clubs.org or to the association -  in the latter case possibly as a component of an existing total sponsor contribution in support of the activity of the association.

7.  Other. The revenue of any sponsorship/advertising or e-commerce developed only at the Clubs.org level (i.e. not specific to any association hosted by Clubs.org) would not be shared with the associations.

Independent of this policy, it is noted that each association serviced by Clubs.org will pay an annual service charge as a contribution to fixed costs of Clubs.org.  It is anticipated that advertising and sponsorship fees eventually will cover the development and maintenance costs of Clubs.org.
